      <image:title>About Us - Caroline Chalder, M.S., CCC-SLP Owner and Director</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi, I’m Caroline! I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in Boston. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and a license to practice in the state of Massachusetts. I received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Loyola University Maryland and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University in Baltimore. My past experience includes working with toddlers, preschool, and school-age children in both private practice and school settings. Prior to establishing Small Talk Boston, I worked as a speech-language pathologist in private practice and multidisciplinary clinics in and around Boston. As a clinic-based therapist I regularly collaborated and co-treated with related professionals such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, and developmental specialists. I provided speech and language screenings and weekly therapy sessions at several private preschool and elementary schools in the Boston area. I evaluate and treat children with speech sound disorders, receptive-expressive language delay, social-pragmatic language disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. Areas of particular interest include articulation and phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, early intervention for children with language delays, and expressive and receptive language disorders in preschool and school-aged children. I am trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing). I have also received additional training in Social Thinking Curriculum for social-pragmatic language disorders. I have an energetic spirit and find the greatest joy in empowering my students and their families. I am passionate about using a child’s strengths to build success and celebrating each step of progress along the way. In my free time, I love reading, taking walks, visiting the beach, and spending time with my husband, Greg, and our two little ones.</image:caption>

      <image:title>COVID-19 - A Note about COVID-19</image:title>
<image:caption>I am currently accepting clients for both home-based and Telehealth services. I understand and share the continued concern around COVID-19 and its effects on our families and community; it is my number one priority to take the recommended guidelines to keep us all healthy and safe. Please read below for more information about the safety precautions being taken for home-based visits: We will work together prior to the session to designate a space for therapy. Ideal therapy spaces are quiet areas away from the hustle and bustle of your home — this will help ensure not only social distancing with other family members, but an ideal learning environment for your child! Prior to each session, the designated therapy space should be cleaned and disinfected. Prior to each session, a health screening question will be sent to you via text message. We ask that you cancel the session if you or anyone in your household has symptoms such as: cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, or vomiting or diarrhea. Late cancellations fees do not apply. At the start of each session, Caroline and your child will wash hands or use hand sanitizer together. I will wear a mask for the entirety of the session; while masks are not required for the little ones during their session, I ask that anyone over the age of 5 wear a mask when we are within 6 feet. In addition, I ask that all adults wear a mask when we are in the same room together. Therapy materials and toys will be disinfected between use. Prior to your session, we will discuss your level of comfort with therapy materials being brought into your home. I am happy to come to your home “bagless” and use materials and toys in your home to conduct our session. Therapy sessions can be conducted outside when weather permits. I am looking forward to seeing you soon! Caroline</image:caption>
